Tips for: Neon Nails

Have you ever had a hard time getting your nails to look like the colour in the bottle?
Essie Neon Nail Polish
Try using a white nail polish underneath!

Just like your eye shadows show up more vibrant when you use a base, your nail polish can do the same thing.

Simple apply a white nail polish as your first base, then add the neon colour of your choice.

Volila! Bright neon nails.

Give it a try.

Sally Hansen Xtreme Wear Nail Polishes

You can usually find me in the beauty sections of stores even when I am not planning on making any purchases. This time was no exception.
I recently picked up two nail polishes from the Xtreme wear collection by Sally Hansen to add to my collection. The two colors have become part of my new favorite nail combo.

The first one I fell in love with is called Lacey Lilac. A beautiful pastel purple that reminds me of Essie's Lilacism.

Next, we have Strobe Light which has been compared to OPI's Teenage Dream from the Katy Perry collection. This polish has a pink undertone with a ton of glitter chunks. Some of the grains are fine pink while other larger ones reflect rainbow colors in the light

Lately I have been Applying Lacey lilac on all my fingers and then putting the strobe light on my ring fingers. I think it makes a gorgeous combo!
Do you have any favorite Nail polishes that remind you of other colours?

Essie Nail Polish- Fiji

I have found my new 'go-to' nail polish...Fiji by Essie.

Essie Fiji

Essie Fiji
Fiji is a beautiful pale pink color that is flattering on any skin tone. I love the versatility of the color because it  can go with anything you wear.

However, applying just one coat will not do- not only will it not give the true color, but it will leave your nails streaky.

I had to apply 3 coats to get the color to my liking.

Although Fiji might sound like a name that is part of some tropical collection, you will be glad to know that it is part of the permanent line.

The color is also comparable to OPI's Mod About You.

Definitely a must-have to your collection in my opinion.

Glitter French Tip Nails

I love the look of a French manicure on my nails. Getting the ‘perfect white tip’ by yourself though, can be quite difficult to do sometimes, even with the help of the French tip guides.

If you are looking to give yourself a simple French manicure with a little twist then I have the solution for you!
Glitter french tip
Start by applying a base coat (any clear or other translucent polish will do). I used Sally Hansen Micro-Fiber Strengthener in Pink Pearl Glaze.

Then take a glitter polish of your choice, (I used a silver glitter by Sally Hansen) and just apply it to the tips of your nails. The easy thing about using a glitter polish as opposed to a white polish is that you are less likely to notice any mistakes on your tips since the glitter polish isn’t as opaque :)
Finally, to make the tips stay, reapply the nail polish you used for your base coat or use a top coat of your choice.

Give it a try! Experiment with other colors of glitter polish to give your nails a different look!

Sally Hansen Crackle Overcoat

There have been many variations of the OPI Shatter Nail Polishes.

The latest company to come out with their own version of this ‘shattered’ effect nail polish is Sally Hansen.

I first noticed Sally Hansen’s Crackle Overcoat nail polishes in a Wal-Mart ad a couple of days ago. They are being retailed for $5.97.

Summer Time Nails

Even if you are not a big fan of putting on accessories like earrings, necklaces, rings, etc. or carrying around the latest trendsetting handbags there is one accessory that you can always play up: your nails!

The best part about your nails as an accessory is that you can easily change them  just by applying a different shade of nail polish!

Personally, I tend to always gravitate toward pink shades when it comes to nail polish ( I even end up buying similar shades thinking I don’t have ‘that’ pink shade). I also love to find shades that suit a good tan in the summer! Here are some of my lucky 7 picks:

1) Borghese- Raspberry Sorbetto (bright Fuschsia)- One of my favorites atm! The color is so opaque! All you need is one coat!

4) Joe Fresh- Coral- (light coral pink)

5) Avon- Tangtastic  (vibrant red with orange undertone)

6) Forever 21 Love& Beauty- nude? ( pink beige with a little shimmer) Wearing nude colors on your nails not only make your fingers look longer, but they also make you look like you have a little tan!

7)  Essie- Mint Candy Apple (pastel blue green) Pastel colored bikinis are very popular this summer,  so why not extend those beautiful colors on your nails!

Clearly there are enough colors for nail polish no matter what color you like. Go ahead, choose a color that matches your mood this summer! :)
