elf Mechanical Eyelash Curler

When is it time to change your eyelash curler?....When the pad is cut in half and your eyelid gets pinched.

Okay so I have (had) an eyelash curler that I was really happy with. I had purchased it from the dollar store a couple of years ago and thought I would never have to buy another one again.

A few days ago I started looking at the condition of this eyelash curler and thought "Wow this thing is really starting to fall apart". That day when I used it I accidentally pinched by eyelid with it and didn't think much of it, until later that day I realized my eyelid was swollen!!
So off I went to Dollarama and found the elf Mechanical Eyelash Curler.

Now, for $1.50 I honestly don't think you can go wrong. (Actually it's supposed to be like $1, but obviously everything has to cost more in Canada...). I never understood why people would spend so much money on an eyelash curler when there were cheaper alternatives pretty much everywhere. In that case, I think you really are paying for the brand name.

Anyways, after using the elf eyelash curler for a couple days now I think it works just as well as my first one. The elf eyelash curler also comes with an extra pad for when the other one starts to fall apart. Also, it comes with a little plastic clamp that allows you to close the eyelash curler so that it isn't stretched so far apart.

So my advice to you, before you pinch your eyelid, make sure whatever eyelash curler you use is in good condition before using it!

Got2b Smoothing Lustre Lotion

I have been using got2b hair products since high school.

One of my favorite attributes of these products is their appealing scent. The smell really lingers in your hair. I know some girls like to spray perfume in their hair to get a similar effect, but perfume is obviously not intended for that purpose (especially with all those chemicals it contains). Therefore, I would recommend the got2b smoothing lustre lotion as an alternative.

The packaging is actually pretty cute too. The got2b satin drops that are also part of the smooth operator line have the exact same kind of 'genie' bottles except they are a little smaller in size.

I have been using the Smoothing Lustre Lotion to smooth my flyaways. It works really well when you let your hair air dry too.

Give it a try!

Prestige Waterproof Eyeliner

I have heard many good things about Prestige cosmetics.

When Rexall was having a 30% off sale I was planning on picking up the Prestige My Black Lashes mascara and  Prestige Total Intensity Eyeliner in Deepest Black, but unfortunately they were sold out.

Instead I decided to pick the Prestige Waterproof Eyeliner.

First and foremost just because the eyeliner claims to be waterproof, doesn’t mean it isn’t ‘smudge proof’. I think a lot of people have misconceptions about claims like these.

Lately I have been using pencil eyeliner to make my wing on my upper lash line.

I have been loving pencil eyeliner instead of liquid eyeliner because it gives a less harsh effect. Since this particular Prestige eyeliner is a little light in pigmentation I also use a black eye shadow to darken it up. The black eye shadow also helps set the eyeliner so that it doesn't smudge!

I will definitely be picking up some other Prestige cosmetics in the future!

Revlon Colorburst Lipstick- Fuchsia

I was never much of a lipstick kind of girl because I like the practicality of applying a lip gloss or lip balm without having to look at a mirror.

Also, my lips are pretty pigmented so I never really cared about applying colour to my lips. Lately, however, I have really been feeling bold lips.

My go-to lipstick has been the Revlon Colorburst lipstick in Fuchsia.

The color is definitely buildable too- you can dab a little to get a little wash of the the magenta-fuchsia color or apply it directly to get a full coverage application.

Overall, I really enjoy this lipstick. I usually wear it without gloss, but it looks nice with a little shine as well.

What do you think? :-)

iPad 2

I have finally hopped on the Apple bandwagon!

Okay... well I do own an iPod, which is my preferred mp3 player, but I didn't think that I would be conforming to any other Apple products for awhile...

I don't like bringing my laptop to school because it is quite big and heavy to carry around all day. For some time, I have been thinking of an alternative way to be able to browse the internet and check my email while on the go, and the iPad2 is the perfect solution.

The main reason I got the iPad2 was because of its portability and convenience. Everything else about it is just a bonus!

Originally, I thought I would be the last person to be buying the iPad2 as it reminded me of just a larger version of an iPhone or iPod Touch. The reality is that this tablet is so much more than that. Besides all the cool features and applications available on it, the iPad2 is a sleek and sophisticated piece of technology.

Usually, when I am giving a presentation I like to bring a piece of paper with my notes in case I need to refer to them. However, for one of my presentations I brought my iPad with me instead and let me tell you it was much more professional :)

To protect my iPad I bought a case for it that not only protects the screen and back from getting scratched, but it also allows you to prop the iPad so that it stands up on its own. This is really convenient, especially if you are Skyping, watching videos, or even typing.

Overall, I am loving my iPad2! I don't think it is the most necessary thing to go out and purchase, but for someone like me who is interested in ease of portability and convenience, this sure tops it off!

Rosebud Perfume Company: Smith's Strawberry Lip Balm

I just bought this lip balm recently and have to say I absolutely love it!
Rosebud Salve Strawberry
In general, when it comes to lip balm I would consider myself a huge junkie. Not only do I own various brands, but I have at least one lip balm lying around pretty much everywhere! (tables, pockets, bags, etc.).
Rosebud Salve Strawberry
PROS
The first thing that I like about this product has to be its smell- DELICIOUS! It smells like strawberries and cream and just reminds me of my childhood for some reason.

The second thing I like is the product itself. This lip balm is soo moisturizing! The tin comes with .8oz of product which will end up lasting you a long time since you only need a little bit. I've read that you can use this balm on other dry parts of your body, but I rather just stick to lotion for that lol.

The lip balm also has a slight tint to it and gives a nice subtle glossy effect :)

CON
Although the gold tin is unique (kind of reminds me of those antique looking tins), I would have to say I do not really like the packaging for the purposes of a lip balm.

The main reason is for sanitary reasons- I do not like sticking my finger in the product and then putting it on my lips. You could definitely use a lip brush if you really wanted, but let's be honest: lip balm is for on-the-go people! We don't want precise application of it.

SOLUTION
For those who are like me and don't want to take an extra step, you can just swirl your lips in the tin and put on the lip balm that way. Works just as well!

I bought mine from Sephora for $9.50CAN. If you're interested you can check out the Sephora website below:
